30/08/09 - Love

This week the second issue of Love magazine finally hit newstands. I was really excited about this, since for some reason I never got round to purchasing the first one with Beth Ditto until it was too late and the man in R.D Franks told me it was totally sold out across London (does anyone know if I can still get it anywhere? Maybe online?)

Anyway, I made sure I bought a copy of No.2 because my ex-boyfriend's best friend is one of the amateur boxers in the editorial 'Boxer Beat' and I was curious to see how the pictures turned out. In my opinion it's actually the best feature in the whole magazine, I really like the concept; if you've seen it you might agree with me.

So the theme of the issue is 'Young Blood', and everybody featured is under 21. As much as I was anticipating this, I can't help but feel slightly underwhelmed with the content. I think that when I was 14 or 15 I would have adored this, but since I've never seen Twilight or listened to a Jonas Brothers song, I didn't really 'get' the point in showcasing a bunch of stars who are overexposed enough in mainstream media already. This issue is all about new emerging talent which I think is great, but I can't help but feel these young athletes and musicians (yes, even you Chipmunk!) are kind of oddly juxtaposed with others who are famous simply for who their parents are, mentioning no names...

Ok, I think my real issue is with Coco Sumner saying she doesn't wash her hair. Really, when did a lack of personal hygiene suddenly become cool?
